We thought we'd get on here to try to get our music heard by people within the industry.....Myspace is a great place, but you can't always hit the target as far reaching people within the labels is concerned, but here, we can aim straight at the heart of the A&R.

A few miles outside of the City Centre, tucked up behind units and along side the canal is a little gem of a venue. The Roadhouse is decorated with black doves, a mix of pictures of famous and unsigned bands, and wall displays to include a set of drums and a motorbike. Here tonight, The Heathers graced the stage.
The Heathers are primarily a local band, although their lead vocalist was tempted away from Scotland to join them. The guys are playful in many ways, but professional in their craft with real attention to detail. They have played the local scene and also Liverpool, Glasgow and London, to name just a few. They share the song writing and work hard on their sound, which is of a mixed influence but essentially rock with a slight Indie lilt in some of their tracks. I spent some time chatting with the lads before the gig over a cup of tea (yes, really). They're ambitious, dedicated, humorous, and fit, but what about the music?
I was not disappointed, but more concerned I'd not do them justice as they made a powerful start with 'Drunken Mime Artist', fast outplaying the small venue room. From here The Heathers delivered soft and sensual contrasted with strong rhythms with powerful choruses for the length of the set. David's floppy fringe, seductive voice, and Scottish accent (having a major effect on me) rang out like pure honey, and was especially displayed to full range on 'Keeping Secrets" and providing serious tingles in the stimulating lyrics of 'September'. Was it me or was it getting hot in there?
'September' was also a great chance for the band to show the extent of their musical talents. The firm and clear drums played by Rob showed maturity and experience to enhance and compliment, whilst Matty and Muzz strummed their strings with climatic excellence.
The highlight of the show was the addictive 'Heartache and Hairdye', which has true potential to give the boys the recognition they deserve. The lyrics, typical of all their songs, were well arranged and sharp. I sang it heartily all the way home that night. It was a song to which I heard more than one of the audience muse "Why aren't these guys signed?" The variation in instruments used in the set included the glock, and piano, again displaying the wide capacity of this band.
The penultimate track 'Wildfire' is their newest and was played here for the first time. The undertones of rock and roll, power of the drum and truly banging verse endings will quickly make this a popular track amongst new listeners and loyal followers alike. They ended their set to an approving audience, playing us out with 'The Alpha Line', another memorable melody.
On stage, The Heathers showed unity yet with individuality in each of these gifted musicians, who used the stage to perform as well as play. They clearly love what they do and made my job very easy. In fact, I almost feel bad taking Reckless's money for writing this review, as the evening was pure pleasure. The Heathers are playing gigs all over the country over the next few months, but there are several in Birmingham to get along to. It certainly won't be a 'Wham Bam' from me. I arrived to write a review and left as a firm fan (and drooling)!

"it was absolutely joyeous to be present when The Heathers performed at De Bees Music Bar on the 9th August 2007. Hailing from Birmingham, they write sumptous star quality songs packed full with beautiful 'Beach Boys -esque'' vocal harmonies all tied in with simply brilliant song arrangements. When watching The Heathers, one always gets the impression that this band are shrouded with that elusive pop sensibility, a sensibility which is amply demonstrated. They write intelligent and hook-laden songs with a wonderful sense of drama and sweeping dynamics. They deserve to go very far!"

"In this short time, The Heathers' happy-go-lucky pop rock sound - reminiscent of a younger, more reflective Ocean Colour Scene - has quickly attracted attention and critical applause."
